RETOUCHING - FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY

I am not taking credit for the photography, only for the retouching.

Food photography is arguably one of the most challenging types of photography out there. It is all about the lighting, styling, angle... and much more. A crucial point to food photography is to have your food looking its best. Everything in the photo is a decision. Every piece is perfectly placed by the photographer.

My job as a retoucher starts, again, with combining layers. Most of the time I receive a master image with the main subject, another shot for the various props, plates or table. Sometimes adding additional smoke and icing or filling up glasses is required. I also do an overall cleaning of the photograph. I am filling up holes, perfecting shapes, cleaning up spills, dust and scratches, breadcrumbs, burned meat or vegetables, polishing the cutlery and glasses. It is more about the detail rather then levels and colours.

Enjoy!
